If you are not in immediate danger, consider these options:

  • Get medical care. 

    • If you have been injured or sexually assaulted, go to a local hospital emergency room or urgent care center.

    • You need medical care and may need medicines after being injured or raped.

  • Call a helpline for free, anonymous help. Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline  at 800-799-SAFE (7233) or 800-787-3224 (TDD). The hotline offers help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in many languages.

If you need help with an eating disorder, you can contact the following helplines1:

  • National Eating Disorders Association Helpline: 800-931-2237 (talk or text)

  • National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD) eating disorders helpline: 888-375-7767

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact 999Each state operates a 211 emergency and crisis information line that can be used to locate state resources. The National Suicide Prevention LifeLine and its state affiliates accept calls for all types of crises including concerns about eating disorders. 

​

If you are in a crisis and need help immediately, call 988 or continue to contact Crisis Text Line by texting “NEDA” to 741741 to be connected with a trained volunteer at Crisis Text Line. Crisis Text Line is a separate organization staffed by volunteers who provide free, 24/7 support via text message to individuals who are struggling with mental health, including eating disorders, and are experiencing crisis situations.
